Lime Crime Chinchilla Lipstick

After entering several giveaways and going through a period of not bothering as I never seem to win any, I somehow managed to win Sirenne of Sirenne Says Lime Crime giveaway! I was allowed to pick any one lipstick or velvetine. Since Chinchilla is a color that I've been very intrigued by for a while and was sold out at IMATS, this was the perfect opportunity to get my hands on it.

Due to shipping charges and eventually discovering the brands' reputation, I have never ordered anything from the website. Instead, I've purchased all my Lime Crime products from local UK retailers such as Cocktail Cosmetics, Love-Makeup or CutEcosmetics. So I was very impressed and excited when I had received my prettily packaged parcel in just over a week from the states.

Chinchilla is an odd color that has fascinated me for a long while. I've already tried a mixture of pragmatic and odd lipstick shades by Lime Crime and got rid of the normal shades, I personally feel as though the best lime crime lipsticks to get are the odd ones. That said, Chinchilla is definitely one of the more unique shades in the Lime Crime range, especially when you consider how even some affordable brands like Makeup Revolution and NYX sell blue lipstick now. It's a medium grey lipstick with lavender undertones and is a pretty easy color to pull off.

I first tried this lipstick alone without any other makeup and it made me look dead, which might put some people off but I figure this would be an awesome lipstick for the next zombie walk I attend. That said, once I wore it with all my makeup done, it looked as pretty as I had expected.

The formula on these lipsticks are creamy and so aren't especially durable. I'm generally a matte lipstick girl but if you find matte lipsticks too drying, you should have no problem with these. Whilst they aren't moisturising, they're definitely not drying either. It does take more than one swipe for full opacity however I find Chinchilla definitely had a better formula than some of their other shades. That said, I find the lipstick does tend to completely disappear once you have a meal unless you use a primer or lip pencil, but it will last for a while if you don't eat.

Since my last Lime Crime lipstick review, the prices of the lipsticks in the UK have gone up to £12.50 and are also now $18 on the official Lime Crime site.
