Brave Inspired LOTD

So today's look is (admittedly) loosely based on Pixar's new film Brave which I'd only just been able to see this week...twice. I found it surprisingly enjoyable and it wasn't quite as adventurey as I had imagined. I do like how Merida is the first Disney Princess without a prince or love interest of any sort. It was refreshing, that along with the fact that she's a Disney Princess with a Mother that is still alive/speaks more than the odd line or two.

I need to start taking pictures in natural lighting more. Apologies.

I tried to add a gingery color at first but I found that the color would always be too brown, too red or too orange. I found it ridiculously difficult to create a ginger color, despite owning seemingly ALL of the color eyeshadows imaginable.

Atlantis Dubai Pictures

So one of the things I've done whilst being slightly afk and unable to deliver posts is visit the Atlantis hotel in Dubai. The interior has some pretty detail to it. Here are a few shots:
 In the hotel lobby
Fountain Close Up
Lesigh, tried getting a decent shot but there was always some tourist in the way, this was the best I could do.

 Huge Aquarium

 This...I found rather trashy?
I have no idea what this is, but its pretty?

Makeup I Own VS Makeup I Wear Everyday

This post was inspired by people on r/makeupaddiction. It's simple, post a picture of all the makeup you own (I didn't include nail polishes) and post another of products you use practically daily. If you would like to see a close up of the picture I believe you can just click on it.

Makeup I Own

Makeup I Use Everyday

I'll probably put up a picture of my 'everyday' look at some point. I say everyday look, I mean my default look I wear when I can't be bothered putting in extra effort/am in a rush.

Despite seeing this, I...still want more.

I clearly have a problem.

Recent Purchases

I haven't been posting as often as I could be. I've had relatives over, it's been nice having a full house and I'm sad that they've left. I now have to focus on job hunting and attaining my drivers license. Ah well, here are a few recent toys and cosmetics I've bought:

The Toys

Pinkie Pie & Twilight Sparkle My Little Pony figurines - I've been searching around town for these, I've only found these two thus far. The blind bags aren't available here either. Which saddens me muchly.

Batman Lego Keychain - Need I say more?

Batman Arkham City - Okay fine I confess this game is the main reason I've been pretty afk for the last few days.

Lush Face Mask in Cosmetic Warrior - As I've finished with my Love Lettuce pot, I figured i'd try out a different face mask out. I've tried this one out once. After another two applications I'll put up a review on it.

Inglot Nail Polish Corrector - Very useful and very handy. It makes cleaning up your nails after applying nail polish really easy. (i'll be honest i've never bothered with cleanups as I find my cotton always sticks to my manicure)

Inglot Nail Art Pen - These are discontinued and I managed to find the last one. Win! I'm hoping to get some other colored nail polish pens online once I have some money. I'll have to wait until then though.

Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean - It's nice being in Dubai as I find there are a lot more makeup brands available here than in the UK. It was nice to be instore and actually look at the products instead of guessing online through lots of research. I'll be using this in a fair few looks I believe.

Barry M Nail Polishes - The clear polishes I'll be using to try out making my own custom glitter polishes. If successful, I'll put up a tutorial on it too. The brown one was for nail art things? (also there was a 3 for 2 offer at Boots here in Dubland.)

I also picked up this tee:
I should probably get out of this obsession with Batman, I have too any posts related to him. I bought it at French Connection. It's a men's top in size XS, I never thought I'd be an XS in anything. Ah well, feels good!

Instagram: A Debate

As an amateur shutterbug, I was originally massively put off touching Instagram but now that I have ample time and have graduated and since a cousin showed off their Instagram profile, I sold out.

Although I would consider it lazy photography, I do believe the app has its 'positives' (read uses).

Ever have someone on Facebook filling up your feed with somewhat silly, pointless photos that you care nothing for? So things like taking pictures of food or new purchases or I don't even know what. I confess, I've done things like take pictures of food and whatnot and then I think...okay...I've taken this picture, but I'm not going to put it up on Facebook, Instagram gives me a place to put all of the silly little insignificant things on.

It does wonders for meh pictures. An everyday normal photo of nothing special suddenly looks more interesting. 'Nuff said.

It's a decent way to give camera phone photos an extra oomph. Sometimes you take a picture of something silly on your phone as you just dont have an actual camera on you and a lot of the times, the pictures are so meh.

A stepping stone for photo enthusiasts. I've heard gripes of Instagram promoting lazy photography but I believe shutterbugs are shutterbugs and are unlikely to adopt Instagram as their sole means of taking pictures.  However, (I think this opinion makes me an optimist), I do think it a stepping stone for those who've had an interest in photography and haven't done anything about it. It's the lazy enthusiast's way of slowly easing into photography.

Having said that, I do have a few gripes:

Filters make meh pictures look good & great pictures look meh. Ever heard of the photography law of just because its in black and white, it does not mean it's a good photo. In the same way, the 'vintage' type photos  can take away from an amazing picture. Thankfully, there's an alternative of not adding any filters.

Hardly any filters I know there are different versions out but I don't know if those have different filters or more etc. I am a newcomer to instagram.

Only available as an app. As someone who has yet to make the smart phone transition, I find it a bit annoying and would love for there to be a proper website so I can access it without having to run home and open up the ipad. I tend to sync up photos from my itunes and laptop onto the ipad and then I play around with the photos.

A nice way to go about the apps and lack of filters is using this website called pixlr-o-matic. It's also what I used for the label link buttons on the side of this blog.

These are all my opinions, what are your thoughts?

You can find me on Instagram here. I'm on as MishMreow.

Chunky Watch Bracelets

Went to DragonMart today and found some pretty cool bracelets...that are watches too!

The second I saw these I was instantly attracted to them. They're pretty cool and handy as I've always struggled to add a watch on my arm if I'm wearing bracelets (I find it just looks weird - my reliable watch is pretty ugly/normal/dull?).

These were up for sale for around Dhs 40 each, the lady said she'd give 2 for Dhs 70. I then pushed for a lower price, which she wouldn't give so I asked for 60 and she agreed. Wee expert bargaining skills. So it came down to Dhs 30 each, (roughly $8 or 5 pounds). I may update this post to put up a picture in more natural lighting.

Legoland Photos

So during my trip in England we visited Legoland, it was incredibly childish but there were some cool bits. The Star Wars lego experience was pretty cool.
