Holiday Haul part 1: Illamasqua Summer Sale

During my holiday, I managed to finally visit Illamasqua's flagship store in London. I have to say, it was a bit smaller than I had imagined but the displays outside was put together very well.

Powdered Metal in Thalia £10.00, normal retail price £22.50
Powder Eye Shadow in Savage £10.00, normal retail price £15.50
Powder Eye Shadow in Dare £7.50, normal retail price £15.50
Cream Eyeshadow in Suck £5.00, normal retail price £15.50
Volume Mascara in Lewd £5.00, normal retail price £15.00
Pure Pigment in Chasm £7.50, normal retail price £15.50
Blusher Brush 2 £15.00, normal retail price £26.00

All together, I paid £60.00 for what would have originally cost me £125.50, that's more than 50% off the original price. Check out Illamsqua's website for their sale. Definitely keep looking back over time as they seem to be adding and taking away items fairly often.

Colors from L-R: Dare, Savage, Suck

These swatches were done without primer. I apologise for not putting up a picture with primer but I clumsily forgot mines at home. I'll definitely review these once I've actually worn these and played around with them. The powder eye shadows are reasonably pigmented but could be better. The cream eyeshadow is very pigmented but is known to crease as far as I'm aware, I will confirm/deny later.

Illamasqua's Pure Pigment in Chasm is a very pretty green color that definitely complements most skin tones, it may take a bit more confidence for some to wear such a color. I've always been fond of their Pure Pigments, these are very good quality and I've gladly dished out the full £15.50 for it, but it's nice to get these at a much cheaper price.

Chasm on the left, next to Dare, Savage & Suck

Illamasqua's Blusher Brush 2 normally retails for 26, in sale I managed to buy it for 15 but now its been further reduced down to 10 last I checked. (Update: these are all now sold out :[ )

This brush is used for a more contoured blush application and feels amazing.
Illamsqua's powdered metal came with a sponge applicator. The powder is very glittery/shimmery. I'm not sure I'm too comfortable with putting this all over my face to set foundation but I do think it would be good for contouring.

I bought Illamasqua's Lewd Mascara just because I've always wanted blue mascara. I hadn't actually heard about this product just the Illamasquara mascara. Again, I'll be putting up reviews once I've experimented with my products some more.

Nails Inc Houses of Parliament Magnetic Nail Polish

I'd been curious about this trend but never actually got around to buying one of these. I was gifted this polish by my bf as they were massively intrigued by the concept and was well aware of my makup/polish addiction.

It's pretty simple, apply and hover magnet on top of nail for 10-15 seconds and ta-da done. Even though these magnetic polishes never originally appealed to me, I actually really like it and think it gives off a pretty cool effect. As I'm off on holiday I didnt bring anything with me, so I had no overcoat to apply and my left hand has thus far lasted really well. My right hand not so much, but thats because le bf struggled applying and I moved too much right after xP

Sugarpill Heart Breaker Palette Swatches

I finally ordered & received Sugarpill's newest pressed eyeshadow palette. When I had found out about its release I was extremely upset as I didn't have enough money to justify buying more makeup. Finally the day came when it was fine to go ahead with it xP

The ever so cute delivery package

Front                                                              Back
         Inside Mirror                                        The Pressed Eyeshadows

The packaging has changed for this palette. It's still very pretty but I'd have preferred something similar to the previous ones simply because I can be very OCD about these things. It's still very pretty though.

Acidberry                                                              Velocity
2AM                                                                   Mochi

 Natural Light

I swatched these with just my fingers and without any kind of primer, you can see how pigmented these are. I was kind of apprehensive about buying these as I felt as though I already had these colors, so I hope to put up some swatch comparisons of these in future as well. So I can see what the differences are and you guys can see what I came up with.

I also received a sample of Lumi in my order. I'll put a swatch up of it in around a weeks time along with a look with these four colors when I get the time to actually apply it as I am abroad for now.

Sleek Makeup Ultra Mattes in Brights Palette Swatches

Colors from Left to Right:
Top Row: Chill, Pout, Sugarlite, Dragon Fly, Pucker, Bammi
Bottom Row: Cricket, Bolt, Strike, Floss, Crete, Pow!

I'm finally getting around to doing the second palette from my previous haul after reviewing Sleek Makeup's acid palette. This palette is available on the store website for £7.00. The colors, could have been better in my opinion. There are some pretty colors in here, but overall I think I prefer the acid palette. The main reason I even bought this set was because there was a 3 for 2 offer in Superdrug at the time and it was the only remaining one that looked interesting enough to buy. There was an alternate matte palette but they were pretty dull colors for me.

No Primer
You can see how faded these are with no primer at all. The top row swatches were a bit faded as you may be able to see above. Though admittedly the green, blue and orange seemed to swatch reasonably well with nothing somehow.

Urban Decay Primer Potion

The bottom row swatched much better than the first row. I found that Pout (first pink on top row), Sugarlite (purple) and Dragon Fly (green) were pretty chalky.

NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk

All of the colors worked out well on top of NYX's Jumbo pencil in Milk. As you can see each eyeshadow is  becomes much more true to the pan color this way.

I will put up some looks up next month using just this palette as I don't really have a lot of time this month to fiddle with looks and all that.

NOTD: Essie Bikini So Teeny

Bikini So Teeny is part of Essie's latest summer collection. It is described as a sparkling cornflower blue. It isn't available online currently. I'm guessing this is more to do with it being out of stock as opposed to not being sold generally. Can't say for certain. Each bottle retails for $8.

I don't actually own this polish. I just had a pre-holiday manicure thanks to the folks. I had chosen the color because it looked so pretty in the bottle, but I don't think the color came out the same when applied. I think it was due to the top coat changing the finish.

Essie is a fairly popular brand but I had yet to try it out. Despite having a mani, I found that in around 5 days, I had a little chip on one of my nails. I don't know whether this is due to the polish or the base/top coat used on my nails.

I've pretty much been afk for a while with blogging. I'm away from home graduating/away on holiday etc. I'll be away till the end of the month, but I'll still be publishing a few posts here and there but won't be as active as I was previously I think. Above pic: mani with books i'm currently reading my eyes out to. I've moved on to the second book. I do believe the first one has to be the longest book I've ever gone out of the way to read. The 2nd one has an extra 200 pages. Shall be fun! XP

Sugarpill Loose Eyeshadow Swatches

I had heard a lot about Sugarpill online, it's a pretty popular brand amongst bloggers. I was a bit apprehensive making an order at first as I prefer actually seeing the product I buy. I finally took a leap of faith when Sugarpill had a sale on their site earlier in the year and I was very pleased with what I got. You can purchase each pot for $12 (approx 7.75 quid) over here. The price is somewhat steep however, these are so pigmented as you'll be able to see in swatches below.

Sugarpill's description of the product is pretty short and sweet:
"Sparkling loose eyeshadows for dazzling effects! Packed full of shimmery goodness."
If you're not a fan of sparkly and shimmer, this may not be for you.

Tiara                                                   Paperdoll
Hysteric                                                                     Stella
Magpie                                                        Royal Sugar
Darling                                                               Absinthe
Goldilux                                                          Birthday Girl
Magentric                                                              Asylum

 No Flash

From Left to Right:
Tiara, Paperdoll, Hysteric, Stella, Magpie, Royal Sugar, Darling, Absinthe, Goldilux, Birthday Girl, Magentric & Asylum

Both of these swatches are done without any primer at all! However i'd still advise you to apply some to ensure the makeup stays on your face for longer. The colors are gorgeous, the quality is amazing and you get between 4 to 6.5 grams of product. It's most definitely worth it. The only color i'd say I was disappointed in woould be Magpie, but more so because I was expecting it to be a lot more bluer on the swatch online. However their description for the product was 'dramatic silky black with metallic blue sheen and turquoise sparkles'. So I can't blame them for that.

My favorite colors are Royal Sugar, Darling, Birthday girl & Goldilux.

Product Rating: 5 / 5
